Do You Speak the Truth...in Love?

We live in a culture that says there is no absolute truth. Whatever works for you is truth and whatever works for me is truth.

But of course, we know there is absolute truth and it's God's Word. And Ephesians 4:15 reminds us that we must speak the truth. Just don't forget to balance it with the two words that follow.

"Speak the truth in love..." Ephesians 4:15

Truth that is spoken without love is not as effective.
Truth that is spoken without love does not reveal the heart of God.
Truth that is spoken without love conveys condemnation instead of reconcilation.
Truth that is spoken without love pushes away instead of pulling in.
Truth that is spoken without love is cold instead of caring.

What is your ministry known for? Rules or redemption? What you stand against or what you stand for? That you want to make a point or make a difference? That you call people out or that you call people up?

When you have to confront people who are not living according to God's Truth do you have a tear in your eye? Do you offer them steps to move toward God's Truth? Do you offer to come alongside them on the journey?

Truth and Love are like the wings of an airplane. One won't fly without the other. If you want to make an impact, make sure you have both.
